A new kitchen for Seattle family of 4, currently in design, is knocking down walls and ceilings to breathe new life into the entire house.
The existing kitchen and formal dining, currently separated by a wall, are being reunited like bread and butter. Looking past the existing, relatively low flat ceiling, exploration of the attic led to the discovery of scissor trusses vaulting this whole area. At present, the only vaulted area of the house is the formal living area. The new ceiling will be taken up to the trusses above, and 4 north facing skylights sliced into the skin letting in abundant ambient daylight.
Construction Summer 2020.
