The Dalles Pocket Park / E. 2nd & Washington

A small outside corner of an existing parking lot, directly across the street from the Granada Theater in the Dalles, was gifted to the city for a new little pocket park. We love to do these small outside projects so we cannonballed right in to assist. Our idea, driving the form of the park, was one of identity, containment, protection, and comfort.    Something along the lines of putting your hands in your pants pockets, somewhat cupped in there as they are, comfortable and contained.

The park, it’s forms that define it,  a 3 piece house of  cards made of weathering steel panels, is itself a piece of art, a sculpture, a place to sit, a place to watch, a place to enjoy the art of life.
