Alpenglow
Perched at the top of the neighborhood and along a somewhat busy road, this residence, the garden house as we call it around here, gazes to the east hills, captures and protects itself from the southern sun. Clad in ebony stained cedar siding, the building sits quietly at its neighborhood perch, it’s cleans line and thoughtful composition speak directly to its environment. The cruciform plan of the house and a strong, laurel bush wall buffers the house from the busier road while creating intimate courtyard areas to let the landscape engage with the architecture and blur the line between the two.
