Country Club Reimagination

Tucked into a beautiful west-side setting in Hood River, this home was ready to reconnect with its surroundings. Originally built as a simple, no-frills structure, it had been expanded and adjusted over time to keep up with the needs of a growing family. Those incremental changes served their purpose, but they left the house without a clear center. Natural light was limited, circulation felt disjointed, and the garage-forward entry lacked the warmth our clients envisioned.

Through a series of design studies, we landed on a thoughtful reorganization of the existing single-story home, paired with subtle additions that strengthen both function and presence. Rather than building up, the design refines and redistributes space within the existing footprint, carefully extending where needed to improve flow, light, and connection to the outdoors.

The plan now revolves around a bright, central kitchen — the true heart of the home. Living, dining, and gathering spaces feel open and cohesive, yet can adapt to moments of privacy when needed. Bedrooms are more intentionally arranged, creating a clearer separation between shared and personal spaces while maintaining a sense of continuity throughout.

A new front entry replaces the garage-facing approach, establishing a welcoming arrival and a stronger connection to the  landscape. Updated proportions and detailing bring balance and clarity, blending traditional warmth with a modern, relaxed character. The result is a cohesive, light-filled home — reimagined from within — and thoughtfully prepared for the next chapter of family life.
