Courtney Rd.

Walking around this site for the first time we couldn’t help but to really feel the landscape, with its undulating movement over its 10 acres, it’s Mt. Hood view to the south, distant river view to the east. We wanted the residence to be a part of it.

Employing a relatively narrow, long linear building footprint,  the house sits on a relatively flat portion of the landscape, while gently nestling into the toe of the small hillside that will soon become the owners private vineyard. Inside, through large glazed openings in the exterior skin, the landscape seems  to glide right through one side of the building and out the other, the house becoming an integral part of its surroundings. A large roof covers the modest 1700 sf structure, creating a continuous exterior patio around 3 sides, connecting directly with the landscape. All rooms of the house have direct access to the outdoors.
