The city of Portland allows up to 800 sf of living space for ADU’s (Accessory Dwelling Unit). Our client, used to living minimal and small in 350 sf NYC apartments, only wanted 400 sf of living space. In lieu of interior living space, the focus turned to private, outdoor space, and the connection between the two. Secure, parking for a bevy bikes on the list as well. This study looks at efficient, well designed modern living space with ample daylight and privacy at the same time.
