The Dalles Pocket Park / E. 2nd & Washington
Currently on the boards, computer screens, and scraps of paper on my coffee table, this tidy pro bono project is something we were thrilled to be asked to join. A small outside corner of an existing parking lot, directly across the street from the Granada Theater in the Dalles, was gifted to the city for a new little pocket park. We love to do these small outside projects so we cannonballed right in to assist. One of the first ideas that surfaced, was that of ones hand. Cupped, almost cradling, nurturing and containing.
Identity and containment, drove this simple approach to this small parcel of land. A 3 piece house of cards, weathering steel panels in this case, define the boundaries and identity of this new spot.
